JuanHamm wrote:Just watched Dark Fate with my nephew. He loves all of the Terminator movies, but this one didn't hold his interest.

I enjoyed everything up until Sarah Connor getting involved, but she was just terrible. I also thought the new John Connor girl was awful. I didn't believe for a second that she was a bad ass and the scene where she learned how to fire a gun in 5 minutes was laughable.
I finally watched it the other night.

Pretty goddamn awful. Why does every action movie look like a goddamn video game these days? Cut back, people.

The story was just ridiculous and killing John off in the first 3 minutes, what looks like, immediately after the events of T2, was so dumb and completely lazy. THey couldnt have figured out another way to continue the story without that bs?

I like all the Terminator movies other than Genisys, including Dark Fate. But the more they make, the less serious sending a Terminator into the past becomes. So, it just becomes more and more ridiculous that they don't just send two Terminators to work together. Or one Terminator to pretend to be re-programmed so that it rescues the target from the bad Terminator, then as soon as the target trusts it and lets down her guard, the Terminator shoots the target
The time to let this franchise die was after people rejected the criminally underrated Salvation

The first one was kind of scary. The second one is just a fantastic all around movie.

The rest can basically be switched in and out on a ranking scale of mediocrity.

Marriage Story. I liked it, though I felt it ran out of steam towards the end, which is something I've said about a lot of movies lately.

And I'm not a part of the world that has nice, amicable divorces, so it's alien to me.

It is really tragic that people rejected Terminator Salvation. They finally tried to do something a little different with the franchise, and I thought it worked for the most part, but people weren't into it. The result is that the next two movies were basically re-makes and re-treads of T1 and T2. Genisys tries to stretch too far and the best that can be said about Dark Fate is that it is competently constructed and has compelling actors. If Salvation had been appreciated appropriately, I think we could've reached into a lot of cool new places in the Terminator universe. Instead, we've been stuck re-tracing old paths again and again.

Agree completely, specially knowing what the two sequels are....a piece of shit. Dark Fate is so fucking generic and stupid it hurts.

Finally, saw this wknd:

1917 - 3 stars; first 40 minutes were excellent; then became kind of ridiculous. Is he James Bond? All of the trench scenes were really well done.

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood - 3 stars I guess. Good acting, dialogue, costumes, and sets; but, really meandered too much for my liking. Couldn't keep my attention.
