I've never actually read through Trump's tweets before. Of course I have seen those that get media attention but scrolling through his feed is like reading the rants of a nutcase.
And Trump will never be thought of as a great communicator. The only thing he is good at is getting his based riled up. And trolling.

As far as being not a great communicator though, a lot of people are saying that Trump is the greatest communicator..ever. He's outstanding, outstanding. Everyone's talking about it. Such a...such a tremendous... you know a lot of people tell me this.

He’s clearly off the deep end now with this Scarborough stuff. Now he’s also thanked Cowboys for Trump in response to a tweet that shows their leader saying “the only good Democrat is a dead one.” If he thinks anyone outside of his rabid base of morons is supportive of such nonsense he’s a fool.

White conservatives are angry about lots of things. They've been left behind. Trump empowers them in that they are enabled to point the blame at the "enemy". The democrats are why the plant shut down, brown people are why public education failed them, liberals are why their town is a bombed out graveyard. It goes on and on. Trump comforts them by insisting that it's not their fault, and that they should hate the enemy that did this to them. It's brutal irony that Trump wouldn't piss on his base if they were on fire and is actually disgusted by them. They are just a means to an end for him.

A lot of truth in this post. It helps explain why it's been a doubling down of the "own the libs at all cost" battle plan, with NO plan at all to address their real life grievances. His base is a means to an end for him, but I think it's true the other way around as well.

If we all agree that Trump is nuts, and I actually believe some of his supporters know it, I do feel that this whole time it's been the cart leading the horse. He's a showman, he's knows how to milk it. I keep thinking back to 2016 and how conservative media was all in for Ted Cruz - Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly, Beck... Trump wasn't their choice then. But they underestimated their base, and here we are.
