Gonna go out on a limb here with a few guesses:

- The "dominate the streets" line was something Trump would have absolutely required in his speech. People would have tried to talk him out of it, but no way would he have listened. He came up with it when he talked/barked at the Governors and obviously loved how hard and tough it sounded. Not about to let that one slip;

- The "photo opportunity" was also Trump's idea. He would of had visions of himself in some sort of "shot for the ages" as the war-time President bravely marches in the face of the protesters to pray at his local church with a bible (not determined if it was actually his or just a borrowed one though). Like Biff stated earlier, this was a big misfire;

- And right now Trump is looking to have someone executed for treason, as soon as he finds out who the fuck recorded and leaked his telephone call.

Yeah, that phone call with the governors is damning but no one seems to be commenting on it because of the photo op.
I have often wondered what future historians will think of this administration (I have an idea) but both the call and the situation behind the picture will be one for the books.
Meanwhile one of my FB friends commented that Trump gave a speech that would have made John Wayne proud.

So he knows he’s going to lose the election and is actually setting up a ‘news’ network. Right so

Gotta hand it to him, that's pretty fucking brilliant. Top 10 news app consistently since launch, people can win rewards for signing others up (including possibly even meeting the Don himself) and farm mobile numbers to boot. And of course a degree of insurance against getting booted off Twitter as well.

He's no slouch at the actual vote getting game, that's for sure. And he knows his audience very very well.

Did you hear him in the leaked phone conversation talk about "these people" being "very easily lead". He was talking about his own followers, I am 100% sure of it.

Apparently he has been talking more with Zuckerberg, who is also fairly tone-deaf but certainly one guy to buddy-up to regarding such things. Should he lose in November, assuming he does in fact run, he will not go quietly in to the night; I feel he'll need that spotlight to continue even if he has to manufacture its source.

I have chosen to abrupbtly leave many conversations as they gravitate toward politics as of late, with this latest bout of societal discord just creating such a lack of focus that it is maddening as well as disheartening. I do take a bit of solace in the fact that at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, his protections will cease.

He's been doing this since the jump. He didn't think he'd win last time either and his plan was to turn the exposure into the launch of a news network.
