SCOTUS just denied cert on Boise v. Martin. So now it's cruel and unusual punishment to ban sleeping in public places in the jurisdiction of the 9th Circuit, which includes most of the West. Whee, can't wait to see all the unintended consequences with this.

Gorsuch is going to be on Fox and Friends. That's an...interesting look.

Utah's in the 10th Circuit, so they should be fine a while. Boise, meanwhile, doesn't even need this ruling to be gentrifying the fuck out of the metro--particularly an inner suburb on the river called Garden City.

I read somewhere that Alito's decision has so many pages of appendices and someone forgot to compress the files that that's why the site is crashing.

Heh, maybe. It is 107 pages, with 4 appendices. Gorsuch's opinion for the Court is only 33, while Kavanaugh apparently didn't touch Alito's monster dissent and wrote his own, only 27 pages.

I got an alert on my phone about the decision and figured Roberts joined the majority. Surprised to see that Gorsuch wrote the Opinion.

All I needed to do was skim the first four pages of Alito's dissent to get the jist of what he was going to argue: a narrow interpretation of sex in Title VII. He also cited a book (not a previous opinion, a book) written by Scalia to make his case. No way I'm reading the other 100 pages.

Kavanaugh, meanwhile, doesn't even mention the trans issue in his opinion, except for a footnote that says the analysis would work the same way as with sexual orientation.

From reading the oral argument, Gorsuch was always deemed the most likely to cross over. I'm more surprised Roberts crossed over, given his ridiculous dissent in Obergefell.
