Let another one go at a different center today. She needed to go. All this bad shit and investigating and HR and everything is just too much. I’m emotionally and mentally drained.

On the plus side, the center couldn’t get into their safe so I did a little interwebs investigating and figured out how to get in to it. Totally cracked that motherfucker. I’m ready for banks now. (Sidenote… the reason they couldn’t get into it was because the batteries for the keypad are on the inside of the door and someone had taken them out and closed the door. The one I fired is the most likely suspect. She did shit like this all the time just to fuck with people.)

The last 8 days have absolutely kicked my ass. Personnel and intense HR issues, corrective actions, resignations, just a constant barrage of negativity and just general unpleasantness. I need a few days to recharge. It’s about to get me down.

I expect no sympathy from everyone working 12 months out of the year, but I hate the first week of work after summer break. Tomorrow is going to be brutal. I essentially get a 2 and a half month taste of retirement every year and then have it taken away and replaced with early morning meetings, adolescent apathy, and evening/weekend grading of below grade level or AI writing. And the emails. Fuck me.

Can you get a job at a different place that isn't as deeply dysfunctional as this one

This seems to be really weighing on you

He could but it would cause the random death of 2 elderly people. Is it worth it?

Yeah this aspect of teaching has never sounded very appealing. It can be traumatic enough going back to work after a long weekend.

Maybe. But it also offers perks I probably wouldn’t get anywhere else.

Would I get to pick them?

Just one, but they have to be black.

Work dinners are such a sham. These titans of industry spend all their energy maximizing efficiency while trying to control costs, then schedule events outside of normal work hours where money is no object.

My co-worker who affects a rude monotone with customers got yelled at and accused of ableism and racism (a not-uncreditable theory) by a customer at the end of the day yesterday. He's been so nice and friendly to folks today

God, I am loving my classes this year. Last year’s seniors made me feel like an alien. This year’s seniors are so nice and full of personality. It’s like the love of my life just came back from rehab and it worked.
