I'm so sick of Sirens already. Hearing Mike gush about it and mention Brendan before the rest of the band when talking about writing it isn't helping...
shoulda checked out that leak after all m8.

Mike mentioned BO'B when he was talking about Sirens. I felt dirty.

If you read between the lines what hes been saying about this song is "I strummed some really basic chords and BOB and Ed fixed it"

I think it'll be Lightning Bolt. It goes way up there (specifically in the last verse/outro), and as we all know, Eddie's ability to sing up there without straining is severely limited. I feel like Sirens sits fairly comfortably in Eddie range, and he'll be able to emote at the live show.

I like the song though, and it's labelled "Pearl Jam", so I guess I'll take it. Same with the others.

Epk was great. I hope they turn that into a svt type of thing. I really wish they would do box set for their new albums. Album on colored Vinyl, cd, digital, extended epk with a couple songs preformed live. A ep with a couple demos and a unreleased track or two. They could release it a week or two before the release date. they could charge all kinds of money for the dang thing as well.

most of the Mad Season stuff is pretty great musically, as is some of Mikes contributions that followed on No Code and Yield

How is that disagreeing? The point we're making is that Mike has been in Pearl Jam for 23 years and was in bands before that. He obviously needs no help to write a song, and yet he defers to Brendan the credit, and before the band. He acts as if he doesn't have a clue what he's doing and I blame BoB more than I blame him.

He said ed too, i assume he always got help or whatever putting together/arranging a song? Or did he not on given to fly or inside job or whatever? I dunno, i think mikes just nice and likes giving credit where he thinks is due. I'm more put off by the band talking about ed like they're some third party who have just met him and think he's awesome. I think that just me being a stupidmop though.

Its made worse by the fact that because we read all the listening party reviews we've heard this already, so we're hearing mike talk about it twice but really he only said it once....if that makes any sense

He said Ed and the band after mentioning BoB. But yeah, it makes sense. And we don't know how much "help" he's been getting before now, of course. But it just really sounds like BoB has been "helping" them engineer a certain type of sound, which isn't inherently what the band is about. I'm at the point now where I think the band are perfectly happy that it's happening, that this direction and deference to BoB is entirely deliberate. And what can you do, eh?

This just makes it even more annoying that he would defer to him like he obviously did with Sirens. I mean, that cheesy schlock you hear all over the song is BOB all over...

Yeah, sometimes we forget Mike was in Shadow. He's cheesy by nature.

I'm sure Sirens was a masterpiece before Brendan helped him arrange it.
