joostone is right. They've repeatedly had recording session song titles long before things were made public.

A band representative…aka…Jeff Ament.

despite the vitalogy reference, it sounds like more of the same. no chances. no risks. paint by numbers.
Dude, you literally have *nothing* to go on to make that statement. This board is so funny sometimes. By which I mean all the times :haha:

if the past 20 years equals "*nothing*" (kind of weird that you bookended that with **), then you're right.

Agreed. Front end of Vitalogy could mean something more akin to Not For You or Tremor Christ, which I think they could pull off, or something more like Spin The Black Circle, which would mean the return of squawky Ed. I absolutely love STBC, but i don’t think this current form of the band should be making songs like that anymore.
"Sounds a lot like the bands first works" is pretty much what's been said about every new PJ album since Yield. It probably just means it's a rock song, but I wouldn't put much stock in it actually meaning anything.

February 2024 will have it being about 4 years since Gigaton, roughly the same time that passed between Backspacer and Lightning Bolt. That 4 years between 2009 and 2013 felt like an eternity, but -- despite the fact that early COVID feels like ages ago -- Gigaton still feels like it just came out. Not sure if this reflects something about the albums, or just about the depressing passage of time as you get older.
Fair. It’s akin to Stone saying each album they were about to release sounds “the hardest in a long time”.

I lean towards attributing that feeling to getting older, but I think both that and its reflection on the albums depressing

so I am pretty excited for a new album. Coming off a great album, a great ed solo album, and two great tours I bet this is pretty good!

Yeah me too. Also Stone and Jeff have been recording with other bands and I loved those albums too

It’s a great moment for the band, and I’m actually exited and intrigued with them working with another producer and in a different way than the previous one, which I still love.

Yeah I think this album has a lot of potential. My birthday is in November and a good Pearl Jam single would be a fantastic gift.

the last two albums dealt with legacy and aging in two very different ways. I am curious to see how that theme continues, especially now that their children are largely entering the larger world

Yeah that’s true. Also they world is even in worse shape than in 2019 when they wrote Gigaton; that already dealt with that subject.

they've been dealing with that across most of their albums - it's not a one and done. What changes is where they are as people as they interact with and reflect upon those experiences
