Re: NBA Thread
From what I've read on twitter it looks like a sign & trade with Norris Cole & cash going back to Toronto.

I don't think Miami is under the cap enough to really make this happen until Wade and Bosh opt out. Cole and Cash won't be enough.

Re: NBA Thread
Disappointed, not shocked. I was waiting for somebody else to report it as well. The Heat beat writers linked to his report but didn't confirm anything or even really suggest it was so. And the Bosh stuff didn't make sense, especially in Thursday's article, so I was skeptical, but yeah, I definitely did get excited. Oh well.Lament wrote:Uh oh, I hope 4/5 didn't get all excited for nothing...

Capspace although marginal. Ever dollar means something when you're going for Carmelo Anthony. And they simply liked McDermott better than Harris. They've been scouting him for 3 years.turned2black wrote:I don't see how anyone could think trading the 16th and 19th pick for the 11th pick could be a "good move" in a draft this deep. Honestly, I liked Gary Harris more than McDermott.

If I was Phoenix I'd make a run at Bosh. I'm not saying he's the missing piece to a championship but that would be a fun team to watch.

Re: NBA Thread
People have been saying Bledsoe and a pick to Miami for Bosh for awhile now. Problems is the Suns and Hornacek don't really like Bosh. And I don't think Bosh wants to leave Miami.bada wrote:If I was Phoenix I'd make a run at Bosh. I'm not saying he's the missing piece to a championship but that would be a fun team to watch.

They have the cap to sign him outright if he were to opt out. He'll always be the one most likely to be traded. Figure he'd want to control his own destiny. I didn't hear that Hornacek didn't like him though. I would think everyone would like him if the price was right.

I hope Lowry stays in TO. He won me over this past season.
Raptors pick Bruno Who? Not sure what to think. But I believe in Masai.
Would have been cool if Tyler Ennis fell to 20.

Re: NBA Thread
I live in PHX and he said on a radio show that "he wouldn't fit," which struck me as weird because he would clearly fit in the system nicely. So I think they simply don't like his tendency to basically disappear for long stretches.bada wrote:They have the cap to sign him outright if he were to opt out. They do currently have plenty of room under the cap, but they have a lot of decision to make in the next year contract-wise and I doubt they would give anyone a max deal. I don't really know what they are doing currently. I think they want to see if the two point guard system is really gonna work, so they'll end up matching offers for Bledsoe and Tucker, although a lot of teams seem really, REALLY high on Bledsoe. I think letting Channing Frye go would be a huge mistake for the Suns.

Re: Bosh. I don't disagree with you guys in theory about it making sense for Bosh to leave. It makes A LOT of sense for him to do so, but he has been almost over the top in his constant commitment to staying in Miami. I've found him to be very direct in interviews, more than the typical cliche spouting athlete anyway, and he has repeatedly said he's coming back and that he'd take less money to do so.
The big news today is Wade's opt out. This means the whole gang is coming back and they will hopefully be able to bring in some help.
LeBron: max
Wade: 4 yr/$56m ish
Bosh: this ones harder to say, but less than max
And a shout out to my boy UD for opting out, too.

I just don't see how this Heat will be any better with a Wade still around. He'll turn himself into an anchor if he's making more than $10 million a year.

Re: NBA Thread
Well, with the salary cap rapidly increasing it might not be so bad. Also, he just passed up $42m over the next 2 years so we could keep LeBron, so I can't complain about him being an anchor, even if there's some truth to that.pnjguy wrote:I just don't see how this Heat will be any better with a Wade still around. Re: NBA Thread
Well, I guess we know now what they want to do. Both Melo and LeBron for max deals. It's hard to believe this place could get more Suns crazy than the Barkley years, but this would surely do it. I don't really think it'll happen, but it would be fun for this place.turned2black wrote:They do currently have plenty of room under the cap, but they have a lot of decision to make in the next year contract-wise and I doubt they would give anyone a max deal. The Nets are morons if they don't grab Lionel Hollins.
