Hot on the heels of Rodlease, Pearl Jam presents this year's Christmas fanclub single: on one side, a recording of the band (still rather inexplicably) playing 99 Problems with Jay-Z and, on the other, a recording of Eddie Vedder and Hollywood actress Jeanne Tripplehorn covering the Rolling Stone's Shattered at a private fundraiser.
Yeah.

Re: General Pearl Jam Bitching
inexplicably? i thought we've explained this thousands of times. first, they were playing a festival jay z curated, meaning jay z specifically picked pearl jam to headline the second night of his festival. he's obviously a fan, which may be hard for some to grasp b/c he's not a middle age white dude. second, wma and 99 problems address similar themes of racial profiling in their lyrics. third, jay z is fucking awesome. changing the lyrics of a classic song to fit a movie is nothing at all like collaborating with a rap star and releasing it in limited addition to the fan club. if anything, this makes me forget about that embarrassing "rodlease" thing for a little bit.Birds in Hell wrote:

I'm sure they recognize what Jay Z does and appreciate it. Also, in the Made in America documentary on Showtime, it is clear Jay Z is a fan of the band. Not only does he say so but it shows him in a clip rocking out to PJ while they are onstage.warehouse wrote:inexplicably? i thought we've explained this thousands of times. first, they were playing a festival jay z curated, meaning jay z specifically picked pearl jam to headline the second night of his festival. he's obviously a fan, which may be hard for some to grasp b/c he's not a middle age white dude. second, wma and 99 problems address similar themes of racial profiling in their lyrics. third, jay z is fucking awesome. changing the lyrics of a classic song to fit a movie is nothing at all like collaborating with a rap star and releasing it in limited addition to the fan club. if anything, this makes me forget about that embarrassing "rodlease" thing for a little bit.Birds in Hell wrote:

I love that 99 Problems. But I was hoping more for the missing Betterman (live) from the Lightning Bolt leaked tracklist.
