I wouldn't be surprised if this is part of a strategy to emulate Bush v. Gore. IIRC, part of the reasoning behind the majority opinion in that case simply involved time, that a decision needed to be made and a winner declared in Florida before electors voted in the Electoral College. If Trump is ahead in some states before all mail-in ballots are counted, why not try to drag it out in the courts until the electors cast their ballots (12/14 I think?) and hope for a similar result?

The problem with this plan is that it would put countless Republican Secretaries of State on the defensive, having to either defend the integrity of their states’ election systems, or to pivot from prior defenses of those systems to a demonstrable narrative that something is amiss.

TBH I don't think it's a good strategy or something that will work, but I have no doubt that if the election is anything but a blowout, the courts will be clogged with cases for months. And for what it's worth, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania have Democratic Secretaries of State, so those would be easy targets for the White House if they wanted to accuse someone of fraud (and if those states are close/tipping point states).

I think the voter suppression is the real danger. Read today think it was in Kentucky polling stations have been reduced from a few thousand to a few hundred. How in the world that’s being allowed happen in a supposed democracy in this day and age is beyond me.
