You should still be worried. All we did was get another Ryan Dempster.
Merge them into one person, and we've got a winner! Also: clubhouse guy!
could one of them pitch out of the bullpen? apparently Cherington screwed that up.
Dude, both closers we had went down to season ending injuries.

brian wilson was available. i like the contreras and lyon signings, but k-rod, scott downs, and/or jesse crain would make me feel better about the next two months.

I can't help but think that if they were in different divisions one of the Jays ridiculous bullpen guys would be in Boston right now.

and Lyon just opted out of his minor league deal.
Mike Gonzalez was put on revocable waivers today. Sox should deal for him.

This is probably laughable, but Contreras has been filthy in Pawtucket so far.

What was it, 2 years ago that Contreras was a serviceable closer for Philly? Honestly, I dont think their bullpen is the problem most people do. They really arent bad out there, Uehara isnt an ideal closer but he's getting the job done as well as any retread closer like K-Rod would. I'm much more concerned with the middle of their lineup than I am with the pen.

Uehara doesn't have the durability to keep this up. He's topped 50 innings twice in his career, breaks down all the time, and has already pitched enough innings this year for it to be his 3rd most strenuous season. And we're just starting August. What's he going to be like come September?

i don't know, but this is what i'm worried about.
j.d. jr can "miraculously" win games with a bat, but a bullpen that doesn't create tie-games in the 7th, 8th, 9th inning is what makes my ticker sleep easy. get on it ben!

perfect example in this game so far. breslow should not have been allowed to stay in the game only to load the bases for tazawa to bail him out. this seems like the classic problem of sox managers not being able to trust more than 3 guys and then over-working those pitchers to the point where it costs the team games.
brandon league has been made available. go get him!

we all know that good pitching beats good hitting (even the best hitters only get hits 3 of 10 attempts), so get solid arms from starters 1-5, and compliment it with strong bullpen guys 1-7.

Jenny dell is outrageously hot, and that's what that job is about, not reporting.
