I loved Licensed to Ill when I was like 14. I still like stuff like “I Don’t Know” and “Sneakin’ out the Hospital” but that’s kind of it.

I’m slowly making my way through it. It was really fun to read the intro, actually go to NYC, then come back and read about some of the places in the early chapters.

I can’t believe they never talked about Yauch dying. That was like the only reason I was interested in listening. Weak interview.

It was interesting to hear about their mindset during Paul’s Boutique.

Not much covering of the hardcore years, and I don’t fault them or Maron for not really talking about Yauch that much. His ghost is all over that book, and that’s probably where the Yauch stories belong and should stay. Well, there and in the music.

That is really disappointing, yeah.

I can completely relate to Mike D at that Bad Brains show.

MD, a preppy but adventurous private school kid who wants in on what’s happening outside his bubble, catching a glimpse of Yauch in his full punk regalia but way too intimidated to talk to him.

Couple of really good Spotify playlists centered on the book out there.

This one is the most comprehensive, but I think I like the way this one flows more.

Just heard an amazing tidbit on Mike D’s Apple Music podcast. Q-Tip said that he & Mike got super high in the studio & his verse on Get it Together was a goof freestyle that he didn’t know Mario C was recording. Found out when he heard the record for the first time. Fucking legendary.
