Not outside the realms of possibility. But strange the thread is still up On the pit.
Official leak maybe?
If so, I'd love to hear a fully produced version of CC. It's got huge potential. And someone needs to tell Ed to shut up sometimes and just let the band play their way through the outtro

In order of likelihood:
- These are 'demos' (in that they aren't demos but initial takes of these songs without post production) from Avocado sessions since we already have corroborative evidence that existed seven years ago. There is no intention for them to be released. They have been leaked to increase interest in the new album and Pearl Jam generally to avoid them having to play the Oracle conference this year to make up for all the money their accountant took from them.
- As above but there is going to be a Lost Dogs II or Avocado EP that shortly follows LB
...
- These are old recordings but the band has re-recorded them for the new album and they are tracks 3 and 6
- As above but the band hasn't finalised the tracklist and is seeing what reaction they might get
- The band froze Ed's voice in a test-tube in 2006 and reimplanted it for one of the recent recording sessions - it ran out after two songs
- These are recent recordings.

It is 100% an official leak. No way there is a coincidence that these get leaked seven years after they were recorded and during a period where the band is plugging a new album. Same as the 10 minute version of release and other tracks just before PJ20.

Why can't these be demos or old recordings which are at the same time meant to go an a new album?
Seriously, why not?

That's not really Pj's MO. it has happened with Gone I think but we'll know later today based on 10cs reaction to all this I guess

Cold Confession is the most musically interesting song I've heard from them since Of The Girl and NAIS

"Gone" is a skipper for me. Actually the whole S/T for me is "skip... skip... skip... Unemployable... skip.. skip.. Yay, Inside Job!"

Me too. Haven't listened to it in years.

They are either poorly advised on their song selection for albums, or they do it deliberately.
Cold Confession is infinitely superior sonically, musically and lyrically to most of their post Riot Act song releases.

You do though get the feeling of wanting to slap Ed across the forehead saying "Just sing it in a lower octave you cunt!"

I dig it. A lot.

well, this was a lovely surprise.
Listening to cold concession now. It's pretty great, and makes some of the back half of S/T choices just mind boggling.

Without any great amount of hyperbole, I think these two songs are clearly superior to anything the band has chosen for release on their previous two records.
I can't even imagine what kind of discussions they've gone through internally where work of this quality is decided against in favour of songs like Gone, Inside Job, Come Back, etc.
As an aside, I absolutely adore the withered, cracked quality of Ed's voice in Cold Confession. If you think it would sound better if sung in a smoother, lower register, I think you're simply wrong. It's so wonderfully characterful as it is.

don't like let it ride nearly as much as cold confession
I also think they've released many songs on the last two albums as good as these, and some that are better.
Having said that, they've also released too many songs that are not nearly as good.
It's about time the Undone/Down/Sad/Fatal songs from these sessions surfaced.

100% agree.
I find it actually quite fucked up that two songs like Gone and Speed of Sound were very late additions, bordering on rushed, to their respective albums.
Cold Confession was a leaked track title very early on in 2005 I believe. If something like this was bumped because Ed wanted Gone on Self Titled, it's a tragedy.
