In my experience, if you get joy out of "pretending" to be an asshole, you're an actual asshole. This shit isn't fun for people who aren't terrible. But even terrible people have people in their lives who love them and see them differently. Terrible people are usually pretty great at gaslighting.

Probably that they have issues around boundaries

Fat disgusts some people. I'm fat, it disgusts me. But I love fat chicks. I dunno, life is full of interesting things to do and think! I don't see the point in making a big deal about it. You're not bad for being grossed out by fat chicks, you're just missing out!
