Goddammit.
The last week or so we’ve noticed a new stray cat walking around our house. Quite lovely. Just stark white from head to toe. Like all the other strays, I run them off when I’m here. This morning Oliver Chud is just going nuts barking at something outside the window. He always barks at animals other than birds so I figured there was a squirrel out there teasing him. I was wrong. There were two little baby white as snow kittens hopping around playing. Just cute as can be. So I made the mistake of sharing the cuteness with Mrs Wease and when she got to the window, a jet black one hops out of the bushes. So Mrs Wease immediately starts in with the “we have to make sure they’re safe” and “it’s supposed to start storming, we can’t leave them out here.” We go outside and see that they’re coming out from under the house. Mama Cat has made her way thru a hole (which I now can’t plug because i don’t want to trap them under the house) and has had her litter underneath the house. Then when we came back in, another black one comes out. So now, there are 4 kittens living under our house that have already been claimed as ours. We already have two cats inside that are quite destructive. Indeed, we’re literally waiting for one of them to die so we can bring some antique furniture into the house we’ve accumulated since moving in.
Goddammit.

Well…
We now have another cat. After the fiasco with the newborns a few weeks ago, the oldest Weaseling convinced Mrs Wease she needs a support animal. So we agreed. She was getting all the paperwork ready at school, Mrs Wease found one and contacted the family everything set to pick it up this afternoon. Then she finds out one of her suitemates is allergic to cats. So now it’s ours until she gets into a place where no one is allergic and cats are allowed.

My wife will 100% take them all wease. While in Rome (left just today, currently in Sorrento, doing the Amalfi via car tour tomorrow) we visited these amazing ruins at Largo di Torre Argentina, which was also apparently where Julius Caesar was killed. The main reason for the visit though? It's also a cat sanctuary where they house and spay 6000 stray cats every year. Once I told the wife about it it became THE place we had to visit.
It was actually quite lovely, ngl. But yeah, the wife loves cats, big time.

Ha, we stayed in an Airbnb next to that spot our first time in Rome. I thought I heard they were in the process of excavating that site though?

Trying to figure out if I should put the old boy down soon. He's starting to get incontinent and he seems to have some internal infection or something that I'm not sure he'll fight off. He can barely stand, but still walks good enough and likes to go outside... Nearly deaf and mostly blind... Plenty of energy and eats well... might be senile...
Lots to weigh here.

Doug Jr. didn't pull through this time...
16 years wasn't nearly long enough. But he saw more of the world than most dogs.
