it was ... LOUD
While i loved the movie and i don’t want to sound like an old man like H_2, we saw it in IMAX as well and it was loud as fuck.
Everything is too loud these days. Too many people with hearing loss (Christopher Nolan and Eddie Vedder) are the ones deciding how loud things should be, to the detriment of us regular hearing folk.

I bought tickets to see this on Thursday because it's basically sold out until then. But I'm very excited.

Great performances shine through heavy-handed storytelling. Give Downey and Murphy Oscar noms.
Bohr! Fermi! Einstein! Heisenberg! Oppenheimer! You’ll never believe who else turns up (it’s JFK)! On July 21st, strap in for the science class of your lives!
The rare Nolan movie you don’t need to see on IMAX. I thought I’d read there was going to be an extended CG sequence of the atomic reaction. Am I just making that up?
Please stop populating every single second of film with score. That’s amateur shit.

Good chat with Cillian on Marons podcast about this dumpster fire movie.

After watching Indy 5 and MI7 in barely half full theaters over the last two weeks, I was stunned by not just how full the theaters were this weekend but the eclectic demographics in the showing I attended. All age groups and ethnicities represented in a packed 11pm showing. And all other IMAX showings this weekend are down to single seats available.

For real. It's trying so hard to say "this is important!" For 3 hours, when all it's about is a guy who felt insulted once and another guy who might lose his security clearance. Who cares?

That moment was such a weird and unnecessary rip-off of Back to the Future.

For a movie that I mostly liked, there were some moments that stuck out to me as being an entirely different flavor, the sort of wink-wink stuff embodied in the JFK moment, the way he recites the line from the Gita, a few references to WW2 events. I was wracking my brain all day to express what it reminded me of, and I finally came up with that they were very Forest-Gumpian in nature.

That’s a great movie though, although I can see how it has a different feeling of gravitas.
