Well…..?

I don’t care how “gorgeous” BotW looks. We know that game. Mario Kart World is THE launch title. I’ve been reading reactions, and the only thing everyone seems to agree on is the music is great. The reviews could not be more mixed - best Kart ever to boring and underwhelming. I think it was a mistake to have this as the marquee launch title after 2 years of dlc with 8. Seems like a lot of pressure on Donkey Kong to deliver in a month or so.

Mario Kart World has a 91 on Metacritic with not many professional reviews so far. I wouldn't read too much into the haters online. It's been out a day.

Tears of the Kingdom and Bowser's Fury look and run SO much better. I bet Breath of the Wild will feel like a completely different game.

Online videos cannot capture the night and day difference, especially if you have a good TV.

For those who played MK8 with all the track packs and DLC, MKW probably feels like a step back. I'm enjoying it. It controls perfectly. I haven't tried free roam yet and that's where the open world really shines supposedly.

Anyone experiencing the drift on the controllers?
Nintendo saying they’ll replace them for free. I should hope so.

No, but I never had an issue with it on my OG Switch either. It's way too early to encounter it as well.

Seems a lot of people had the issue right out of the box. There’s always going to be snags. Hopefully they sort it out for those affected. Have to imagine they’ve factored that in and have replacements ready to go. It’s not like it’ll be dead stock, they’ll be shipping them out to shops and online retail eventually anyways.

Looks like RM is a microcosm of the gen pop on this. Not much interest. I asked all of my senior classes on Friday if anyone was getting this. No one. Most of them didn’t even know about it. It was the last day so I brought my Switch in for Mario Kart. They were all good at that.

I thought maybe if I save all my games on my current memory card n sell my old switch plus oled I can maybe get like 200 back

Turns out the memory card isn't compatible and I can get barely over 100 for the consoles

There's like 2 new games total to play (kart n wind waker).. hell I didn't even finish the last kart bonus tracks

Hard pass, for now anyways

Not really. Looks like they made history with the number of units they sold so quickly. It's probably just that age group that's too cool for Nintendo right now. I'm sorry your friends weren't impressed by your show and tell toys.

My kids are aware of it, but such is the way of kid money that they will be waiting until Christmas.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Console launches are always a bit tricky. A June console launch is unprecedented in the modern era of consoles. There is clearly a large demand for this (it will be one of the most successful launches ever), but the distance from the holidays has tempered the buzz from the casual audience. The market is also now flooded with PC handhelds that have made the Switch 2 a little less attractive.

I think Nintendo really undersold the power of backwards compatibility with this thing. If you have an OG Switch model and you still play it regularly, this is a substantial upgrade. Even games that don't have paid upgrades or advertised upgrades will play and look better (with faster loading times)! And with Nintendo you know there will be 4-6 good to great first party games releasing every year.

Still impressed with how well everything works on this thing. I'm used to Nintendo making bold choices from generation to generation, but this seems like safe and logical evolution of the Switch. They really learned a lot from the Wii to Wii U transition.

The new pro controller is about as close to perfection as can be. What a dream to hold.

Big time. It makes sense, though. Nintendo are kind of dicks about a lot of shit. It's like they hate money.

I won't be buying this shit. I can play Dark Souls & Diablo 2 on my Sw1tch, and that's all I care about.

(joycon drift is also one of the biggest betrayals I've ever experienced)
