What's your morning routine like with all that good sleep?
routine hasn't changed much. basically just loving not having 1-2 flu like hangovers a week. Enjoying feeling everything better, including the bad stuff. Just choosing reality. It's a better fit for me now. I guess I'm maturing.
Yeah man. That's what I'm curious about. I've been drinking my entire adult life. Progressively more, to the point where getting a buzz is just part of my day now. Drinking to break the ice at work gatherings, taking the edge off at the end of the day, all that. I may be boring as hell without the liquid courage, but I'd like to get to know that person a bit.

Also, more energy = keeping up with my six year old when he wakes me up randomly wanting to fold paper penguins.
i know many parents of young children who realized they needed to stop drinking or massively cut back so they could be functional and attentive to their kids the next day

also as people age it takes way longer to recover and you just 'dont want to' drink bc you are tired of feeling like shit later

natural sign of maturation

and to be celebrated

some choose not to take care of their kids and are selfish and just keep partying like they are college students and basically ignore being a parent

a lot of those marriages fall apart. one parent never grows up, the other does all the kid work

they havent realized the key is to not drink during the week and wait until the weekends and when the kids are older just occasionally drink 14 corona alone in the backyard listening to neil young, alice in chains, guns n roses, mahavishnu orchestra, medeski martin and wood, and dave a era pearl jam and serially post that they are gay in spanish on an internet message board

because 14 corona doesn't cause a hangover if you drink it over a 9-hour period

fools

I need to start drinking again, but don't want to deal with the hangovers.

Create a graphic novel about RM instead.

Dude, I relate completely. You're in a fog. You're actually most boring thinking you have to be "on" for all these people and situations. Cut out the bullshit and actually become yourself. There's nothing boring about actual reality, if you pay attention.

The hard part is recalibrating your system, re-establishing your baseline, which takes some time, and some temporary sacrifice. But when you do it's more than worth it.

I'm on 35 days sober and I'm just getting over a cold. I've had some rough patches but I am noticing my mood has become much steadier. I don't have high peaks and I don't have low lows. I just feel mostly pretty alright nearly all the time.

The best thing is that I feel like myself, my thoughts are integrated with my actions, and that's good for my self-esteem. I no longer feel "split", and confused.

The longer I go without drinking the more I realize how big of a problem it was. When you're in the fog, you really can't see the whole picture, but you can feel the consequences nearly all of the time.

nice. congrats

this is like when i quit weed, although it prob took 6 months for the brain signals / regulatory hormones to level out, and a few more months to rehabilitate my brain to be able to do math and things

but it's a great feeling to get to that acuity

We’re trying a close to dry January, but then we hit the late afternoon with our jet lagged and recovering from a virus kid and crack one open real quick.
