Millions and millions. On billboards and posters and radio / media ads etc. and it’s a barrage months before a new album or tour even happens.

Worms point is completely incorrect otherwise, particularly on the hardcore fans aspect. Foos audience are transient day time radio listeners in the main. They don’t have anything like the amount of touring fan hardcore base that PJ do. Their gigs are mostly populated by people that go to one concert a year with their kid and buy the T-shirt. And still, latent Nirvana fans.

It isn’t a competition for audience in any real sense, PJ don’t have to do all those promo things. But the ticket price shitshow is the main aspect in touring and it bites PJ in the arse because of all their previous moral stands on it.

I think the point you're making is that PJ have more hardcore fans than FF but FF are better at selling albums/tickets to more casual fans? I wouldn't disagree with that but I'm not as close to the FF fan community to be able to comment. I do know at least as many diehard FF fans as PJ fans tho, often with a big crossover.

Where or when has he said anything against Trump? To an extent you think it would affect them either album or tour? The only audience for Trump in the world is the US. And Pj sell out constantly there. They can do any amounts of nights in the venue of their choice and it’ll sell out. The rest of the world loathes Trump and they’ve had a rough time in the EU at least. So your point doesn’t make sense.

That European trouble is down to cancelling shows and not coming back to honour them in those cities but doing a euro tour in other cities. They pissed so many people off with that.

It’s nothing whatsoever to do with Trump though. But I’d love to be corrected and see your evidence of it.

The irony of the Foo Fighters is that they're basically the exact band that Cobain thought Pearl Jam was and bitched about during the early 90s.

They sell out in the US but they're also undeniably "less popular" here than they were even 15-20 years ago. I think Ed has said a number of things about Trump. The interview he gave prior to Dark Matter where Wreckage got attached to Trump is one example. A few years back there was a big thing with a tour poster where Trump's head was severed on the poster. He's also referenced him in songs (Quick Escape, Seven O'Clock) and I'm sure numerous times during concerts. The thing where Ed went in on the kicker from the Kansas City Chiefs during a concert also pissed off the right wing nuts here.

I'm not saying I disagree with any of his viewpoints but Ed has been actively pissing off the right wing for at least 25 years now, most notably when Trump and Bush were Presidents. Ed leans into it enough that he's definitely insulting anyone that supports those guys. It would be completely naïve to think that hasn't turned some people off from PJ. It's like half the country here he's speaking against and good portion think Trump is some sort of a deity.
