i cant hear a single CYmbal or Crash ring out :(
No decay or reverb tails at all on both songs so far...air-tight production, sounds like maybe no ambient mics so far? Is that off-base?
I'm sure they used room mics when tracking, but none of it's there in the mix
Fucking producer makes one of the greatest drummers of his generation sound like a plug-in. Does this mean I hate Pearl Jam?

ran back to my office for a quick first listen. Fast, fun, low ambition song. Bridge is really cool but not sure it fits. Basically co-signing what McP said until I have a chance to actually dive into it. 3 star song.

3 star song for me....SBWM was initially a 3 star song for me that i bumped to 4 after the album came out so there may be hope yet.

I have zero problems with the songs I'm hearing so far
I would love to do that sometimes, trust me. I can't help it...These are the things that hit my ears first
it does help that I listen to a lot of other music that has what Trag would call "modern production"; I don't know who produces Sleep Token but hopefully they cross paths with Pearl Jam one day

I can hear Matt all over DM and Running. One can certainly take issue with the way he sounds (tonally, etc), but his presence is more evident here than it has been in a while, at least to me.

Yeah. If this is how it sounds on the album, I'm in the same line.
what is happening right now? I thought we'd need to live with the album for like two years before the tides started turning
Ha. I wasn’t in love with how Dark Matter sounded but the production somewhat suited it. This is just a wall of mush.

I think this is a grower. The bridge makes it that way for me. Had it been frenetic throughout, I couldn't listen to it on repeat like I have been. That and the fact that I like the melody more and more on repeated listens helps.

Also, this might work very well on the album given its placement between mellower/more mid-tempo songs.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…
