Ripped it using Audacity and Soundflower etc...

Wav

Hopefully it will suffice.
Thanks for getting this up so quick

I noticed a glitch around 2:43 so I uploaded another version demuxed directly from the youtube mp4 file.

Unfortunately this pure version still has the MYM intro at the end so I also converted to WAV to edit it out and up the volume by a few dB while I was at it:

Added the mp4 video

- there's a video of the band playing the song live (in a studio, anyway)
- if you pre-ordered the album through 10C you can download Sirens in MP3/FLAC from pearljam.com

Oh, and I like the song; that's clearly news.
You like this shit?
About 96% of Spenno's brain is made up of wailing, unmusical guitar feedback and deliberately abrasive white noise, but there is a very vocal portion of that 4% that is responsible for his seemingly anomalous embrace of songs like "Sirens" and TV shows like "Gilmore Girls" and "Bunheads." It rises to the surface without much sense of consistency but does so sternly and demands to be seen, not unlike a Whack-a-Mole. For that reason Spenno is one of my go-to RM'ers; I never miss a thread wherein his name appears in the "last post" column, much the same as I can never walk through a Chuck E. Cheese's without making a pit stop at Whack-a-Mole.
What-a-Mole might be the greatest game of its kind.

Does Mole have the same slang meaning in America as it does in Australia? I'm guessing not.

Sorry guys, my bad - it appears MP4Box demuxed the audio 'out' of the original video file

Uploading a fixed version now, check back soon

Well, I´ve been comparing the two version with a nice set of headphones and I think I like the "live" take more than the studio, it have more guitar instead of piano and it´s more bassy. In some parts Jeff it´s almost buried in the mix in the studio version, that bass line in the Mike solo is almost lost. I hope they release this version in better quality.

This song is like something the guys might cover,(at least Ed) but not write themselves. "Picture In A Frame" "Throw Your Arms Around Me". This sentiment comes out in those songs in concert, but they belong to someone else.

I suppose the shock of a full-blown "love song" from Pearl Jam is still adjusting itself to virgin ears, and our initial rejection of such things is subsiding with the realization that they did it pretty damn well, and in a "Pearl Jam" way.

It's like that "500 Day Of Summer" for me...I didn't want to like it, kept telling myself it would suck even 15 mins into it. And by the end.....well, we know the story don't we.

So I dont have time to go through 63 pages so what are people's opinions on the interpretation of this?

From reading the lyrics it seems that it's about him lying in bed and hearing sirens at night...and now he fears the day when they will come for him (or his family as well.) And how he looks at how much he's changed since his wild youth, and how much he now has to lose, and how he doesn't want to leave this life or leave his family or have them leave him, but if it were to happen for them to know how much he loves them. Basically the song is about how something as mundane as a siren can call attention to our mortality once we reach a certain point in our lives. "I hear the sirens more and more in this here town" I interpret not as they actually are being heard more, but he just notices them more and more. Something that never would have meant anything to him when he was younger now suddenly has a whole different meaning.

And I love that. So much. It's not a simple love song. It's something that only a guy in his 40s would write or think about. And I find it a really powerful insight into Eddie Vedder's now much more mature mind. I like that this song isn't trying to be youthful or wild. It's Eddie Vedder reflecting on where he is now in his life, and the tone of the song reflects it.

Personally I think the meaning is beautiful unless I'm interpreting it wrong.

what's the point of ripping the youtube video in FLAC format. isn't it already going to be compressed when uploaded to youtube? Or do the HD videos uploaded there also get lossless audio?

I'm not sure of the answer re: the audio quality of HD videos but, if the audio were lossy, there's little sense further degrading the quality by transcoding the capture down to MP3.
