yeah, that part with Matt being bummed out...the guy just told SG he wasnt playing with them next year.

Forgot to introduce him in Baltimore and Jeff left before they had finished free world, apparently because he was upset about it

I am still unsure if this is a joke or fact. I don't know what to believe anymore. WHAT'S EVEN REAL MAN?

this thread is cursed
The Matt comment was not about a general Matt-malaise... it was about the techie incident. specifically the video of the techie incident.
Does Matt look like he supports what Ed just did?
that was the only observation that was trying to be pointed out
screw flanders,

Yeah. I don't think he even really noticed the guitar throwing thing.

he's drumming, and as the techie is picking up the guitar, there is a brief gloss-over look; like I just saw my mom get punched by my dad, but I am just going to pretend it never happened.
watch it several times

Thanks, but I'm okay. I just opened up a bag of jelly beans, they are demanding my full attention.

I always assumed it was about Mike and his own substance abuse problems.
Honestly, we don't really know what happened beyond the obvious Ed dick move and the fact Ricky Ramone is apparently not the world's greatest guitar tech. Could it just be that Ed's guitar decided it didn't want to be forced to play "Sirens" and decided to self-destruct?
But really, I don't care. Ed's a dick sometimes, and like all people, that tendency gets magnified when he's drinking or in the middle of something. The guy is an enigma - everybody who knows him or has worked with him seems to have a different story. I doubt there's more to this story beyond Ed getting frustrated over a poorly-tuned guitar and taking his frustrations out by being a dick.
Hell, Ed even admits to it on occasion - like on Melbourne II in 2003 when he says that his guitar tech (who I assume is Ricky) has the best job in the world, except when Ed gets really pissed off and then it's the worst job in the world. Even Ed knows he's an asshole from time to time.

Not even close. Any number of simple, honest mistakes which don't necessarily point to one's sheer incompetence at one's job could have been responsible for that guitar having been out of tune. I don't know anything about what has gone on behind the scenes with this person, or how long it has gone on, but I can't come up with even a worst case scenario where that kind of arrogant, mean-spirited reaction to what was probably an honest error would have been justified.
To my mind there are few things in life so unattractive than watching someone in a position of authority treat one of his or her subordinates with disrespect, especially in front of other people. Anytime I witness that sort of thing in my daily life I all but literally shudder with disgust.

This, KD, 100% I concur. It's not only the utter disrespect for another human, it's the disrespect for the equipment too. The 14 yr old Ed who just got a guitar would be horrified at that behaviour. What a prick.
Also, having heard just 1 or 2 gigs from this tour, what's with the almost teenage-like glee at mentioning he's drinking wine. He sounds like a wino. Cheap behaviour Ed. Sort it out.

I think it's funny how people defend Ed like he was their long lost child. It's better to admit that he can be a dick at times. It doesn't have to mean that you lose all respect for him, or any for the band or their music. But if you deny any wrongdoing on his part, you make him out to be an angel, which he is clearly not.
He was clearly being an asshole here, and frankly, we've all been there.
