No eye-rolling surprises hopefully. Leave that for Mr. James Patterson.

I'm not saying episode 4 wasn't good, but I preferred the moodiness and pacing of the first 3 episodes.

the non-single-take parts of ep4 got better with a rewatch, especially when rewatching ep3 immediately prior. the 2 week break hurt the momentum a bit.

i think the first 3, when viewed back-to-back-to-back, are really a seamless work of art. They really all build towards the climactic Cohle monologue and shot of Ledoux at the end of ep3. I think the last few minutes of ep3 are actually better than the the end of ep4 - not cinematically, but dramatically.
What a show.

I might see ep 3 and 4 back to back before going into ep 5.

Best series/movie/ whatever you want to call it.
Been meaning to praise that scene in the projects. Felt like a movie. A really, really, really good movie. What a show.
My only issue is that I'm having trouble keeping up with the plot, which isn't a bad thing. I gotta go back and read some episode summaries. You gotta work to watch this show, and that's OK by me. Off to do some investigating on my own.

When Russ was in the kitchen shooting that shit into his arm, was he trying to show evidence of track marks, or was he injecting himself with an anesthetic to block some of the drug toxins in order to stay focused, or what the hell was going on with that?

I took it as this. injecting dye into his skin to make it look liked healed needle pricks.
