Was it that early starting on previous tours? I can't remember.
Is anyone even there by 730? Strange.

Ed looks a whole lot happier in the solo setting. He played future days last night apparently.
And is rumoured to be joining Bruce onstage in Melbourne. Hope glen does too.
Drive all night hasn't appeared yet.

Eddie absolutely killed it at the Opera House last night (as did Glen). 32 song set lasting 2hr40  . Very covers heavy compared to previous nights with heaps of entertaining banter as usual. A lot of love in the room, you felt like everyone in attendance appreciated how lucky they were to be there.

Highlights included:

Sleepless Nights w/ Glen, from front of stage without mics
Golden State w/ EJ Barnes - including false start where he accidentally went into Setting Forth after the intro :haha:
Blackbird by nicely timed request
Long Nights (was stoked to hear this one)
Good Woman
Bugs on pump organ
Ukulele Anthem (Amanda Palmer cover)
Ed's idea for a youtube Ukulele contest called 'Uke Hunt' ;)

Hope he gets them up in Melbourne.

Nice - Ed was very kind to the front row, giving out a lot of picks etc

Glen talked about cutting his set short and Ed starting early in Perth so they could rush off to see the end of the Bruce's show on Saturday - only to catch the last half of the last song. He then talked about their catch phrase of the tour 'what would Bruce do?' before doing a great Bruce impersonation. He later encouraged Eddie to do his but he was too embarrassed, he said only ever does it when calling out to his dog Hank - which he eventually did for us, morphing gradually from his own voice to Bruce's, ending with a great '2,3,4!'.

I'd like to but I've well and truly blown my concert-going budget this summer, so maybe. I've seen him at the Opera House with Swell Season before - he's just MADE to play that place :nice:

Is that what it was? He sent me a pic last night of him and ed arms around each other side stage watching Bruce.
I definitely think something will happen in Melbourne.

Great show last night. Such a great venue to watch an intimate performance like that.

I had not heard of Glen Hansard before but was pleasantly surprised by his performance. Very good and quite intense. Can play the shit out of his guitar and has a great voice. Will probably check out an album or 2 of his, was really impressed with him.

Ed was brilliant. Quite openly admitted (they both did) that they had a big night at springsteen and was well hung...........over. (join the club eddie i was feeling the same). hangover led to quite a few fumbled lyrics and mistakes on the guitar and uke. But made for a bit of good humour, especially their duet when glen stuffed up and made eddie feel better.

Got a few songs i hadnt heard before which is good. Really liked the 'into the wild' section of the concert. Those songs just sound amazing live. Wanted to hear drifting and immortality and got both. Immortality was an unplanned addition i think as glen came out to play hard sun but then quickly retreated. Patriot was a great unexpected surprise, i haven't heard that song for years and ed nailed it.

I have read reviews about crowds being annoying at ed concerts but last night was pretty good. few requests but you are gonna get that. Ed interacted pretty well with them and quite a few laughs. Best was a request for yellow ledbetter and ed impersonating mike playing the guitar.

Few funny moments. Eddie telling a story of when some people thought he was a busker when playing a new uke while sitting on a few cases of beer waiting for some friends. He also did an impression of willie nelson after playing just breathe. Was pretty spot on as well and got alot of laughs.
