Re: Albums of 2014
Yeah, these are guys who I enjoyed at the start but they haven't aged well for me. The single sounds like more of the same and does nothing for me. Oh well...bodysnatcher wrote:So, par for the course?Strat wrote:Well the new hold steady sucks :/.

http://scluzay.com/It's hard to know what to make of veteran US East Coast hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan's grandiose "renaissance-style" plan to press only one copy of a secretly written and recorded double album called The Wu – Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, then package it in "a hand-carved nickel-silver box designed by the British Moroccan artist Yahya", tour it through museums and galleries (at up to $50 a listen/look), then sell the only copy to the highest bidder – hopefully for millions.

Just read about this before coming to RM. Sounds like a really interesting experiment and statement.zeb wrote:http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/the ... 35ker.html

I dont know about that yet. Not 1 memorable song for me on the new one. At least not yet. I remember liking the Smidge, Sweet part of the city, Hurricane J and Rock n Roll problems.

I struggled to get into Heaven so it'll interesting to give Teeth Dreams a proper listen. But what really creeps me out is the title of the new record. I think Tad now looks a bit too clean and like he's trying too hard with his image. He looked weird on Letterman.Strat wrote:solace wrote:it's still WAY better than Heaven Is Whenever...Strat wrote:Well the new hold steady sucks :/.

Re: Albums of 2014
Yeah probably, but it was more the 'designer' clothes and trendy haircut kind of vibe. The band seems to have lost a bit of an edge that I think was a big part of their early sound. They were already old dudes when they started so I don't think it's the going from your 20's to 30's thing. Maybe it's just going from 30's to 40's.Strat wrote:Fuzzcharger wrote:I struggled to get into Heaven so it'll interesting to give Teeth Dreams a proper listen. Mostly he just looks super awkward when he's not holding a guitar.

...it's shaping up as a good year in my opinion.
Beck is easily the best so far. But there's new Black keys, Pixies and Coldplay which are all at the top of my list.
