Anyway, I dig it.
Sweet. :nice: Saw that post a few pages back right now. Good to see some love for that record.
I have a crush on Katie. :luv:

oh, without even the slightest doubt. to be honest, i'm not crazy about lamar's albums. i love specific songs, but i have trouble getting to the albums as complete experiences

that's pretty much how i feel about To Pimp A Butterfly. i love the first three songs and The Blacker The Berry, the rest didn't really click, though. that might change with more listens though. i haven't given it that many chances, yet. hip-hop isn't really one of my favorite genres anyway. (not really being a lyrics-focused person might have something to do with that) i have yet to find something i like as much as MBDTF.

Should I listen to the new Courtney Barrett or the new Tallest Man album next?

I'd go with Courtney. The Tallest Man one is good (some songs are lovely) but ultimately a disappointment seeing what he's capable of. Courtney is pretty great.

edit: I feel like I'm sounding too harsh about the Tallest Man record. I like it quite a bit actually and it's definitely worth listening to. Fields Of Our Home, Singers, Beginners and Dark Bird is Home are some wonderful songs. Just not nearly as good as The Wild Hunt.

is grown on me but its not what I like about him. Everything up through Wild Hunt is what floats me stinker, and Wild Hunt is perfection.

its been a good year for music me thinks

To LMS as to good new albums this year. Here are some that have come out that I've very much enjoyed:

Cedelle Davis - Last Man Standing. Not bad stuff for an 88 year old bluesman. I couldn't find anything off the album on Youtube so I uploaded the opening track here - Catfish & Cornbread.

Courtney Barnett deserves a listen, but I'm pretty sure you've already checked her out.

David Corley - Available Light is pretty damn good. He reminds me of Shawn Mullins (for better or worse). Again, no youtube but here's the title track for you:

As others say, The Father John Misty album is a goodun'.

JD McPherson - Let The Good Times Roll is one of my personal favourites so far. Great album top to bottom. Here's the title track from Letterman.

I've posted about Mark Knopfler's Tracker earlier in the thread, worth a listen.

Matthew E White's second album is great too, Fresh Blood. You would have surely heard Rock and Roll is Cold on JJJ?

Other Lives Rituals was like a rash on the previous page, also a good album.

Everyone's favourite Phosphorescent released a live album this year too - Live at the Music Hall

In keeping with the oldies releases, how about Pop Staples releasing an album from the grave? It's pretty damn funky. Here's Somebody Was Watching Me from it.

And that Waxahatchee album is great too.

Now for possibly the most annoying release of the year - check out the acapella rendition of Poor Old Horse by Richard Dawson - if you can get through to the end of this in one piece you're doing pretty well. The trouble is you then may well find yourself humming along unwittingly hours later. Most disconcerting.

All-in-all so far not a terrible year, but not an absolute corker as yet either. Still plenty of time to go though, and plenty of new stuff still to come.

Someone should make a mix of the best songs from this year so far. One song per artist and put on as many songs as will fit on a cd. I'm completely checked out from new music. Help.

Another vote for "Tracker" here, Varis. I am a big fan of Mark Knopfler's solo albums.
