The drummer from the National could replace Matt. Check out the intro to this. It's Jesus Christ pose esque

Oh pearl jam for sure. Though this guy is probably even more metronomic than Matt so maybe SG too

Being Jesus Christ Pose esque is hardly a recommendation
Matt's worst quality is his soulless lack of any groove at all sucking the coolness out of the band. Im sure its great where he has to be technically proficient for Soundgarden but Pearl Jam in all their other drummers had way more going for them. Matt plays all of the old songs badly. ALL OF THEM.

NO. Fuck, go listen to 98-00 Pearl Jam. Matt in 98-00 is pretty easily my favorite drumming in Pearl Jam.

I think mikejasond is exaggerating, but I don't think he's 100% wrong. Dave A. and Jack fit PJ's style better, at least to my ears. I miss that groove that they just don't seem to have, at all, anymore.
Having said that, the '98 boots / LO2L is indeed some great drumming. The 2000 tour also seemed to have remnants of the groove, but those days are gone.

That drum intro really doesn't have much in common with Jesus Christ Pose.

1. Bryan Devendorf is a terrific drummer
2. mikejasond has a poor grasp of what a good groove sounds like

Also: If you prefer how an older Pearl Jam song sounds when played by a previous drummer wouldn't you just listen to that record or live recording from that era instead of whining about it on an internet message board?

At this point, I honestly prefer Matt because of the stability he's offered since joining the band. My favorite records are the first 2 he played on as well.
Matt
Jack
Dave A
Dave K.

Screw stability. They apparently make better albums when the wheels are coming off.
Fire Matt Cameron!

The thing about Matt Cameron is that he writes great fucking songs.

This. If they could get back to the experimentation with songs and sounds that they had during the Binaural, Riot Act and S/T sessions, we would be amazed again. BS and LB had some decent songs, but weren't very complex. Maybe they just wanted to write songs that were a little easier to digest and play live? Whatever the case, I hope they start challenging us once more. I love Matt's songs because they're outside of the box writing. Love that on the last tour, they started playing more of those songs again.
The Canadian shows had some of my favorite setlists in recent years.
