I will at least hope Matt gets a song or 2 in there

he saves them all for soundgarden now so Eddie can't ruin them.

Well, you have to respect him for that. I'm definitely excited about what SG have in them next time. I ended up being a bit hot and cold about King Animal but it was definitely a pretty good record.

I'm sure somebody else has guessed it already, but I'd guess that Brendan O'Brien is going to write at least one song for PJ for this album.

I don't think i listened to the album all the way through. I wasn't ever really in the mood for it

personally, i think chris cornell's voice has aged worse than eddie's. i could be biased, but that's part of why i mostly avoided king animal.

The day Brendan O'Brien is listed in the album credits as part of the band is the day I hang up my fandom hat.

I don't think these guys are at a point of their lives where they'd continue the band much longer should it stop being profitable.

Well, I guess it depends on what's meant by "profitable". Lightning Bolt won't make them mega-stars any more than better albums have. And I would be OK with them going out on this album, I reckon. That's no reflection of my feelings about the album itself, just the general direction they've moved in.

King Animal is far better than Lightning Bolt, just lacks a Pendulum

I meant "profitable" literally. If they start only breaking even or losing money, without a major label backing them, I doubt they'd be willing to take it much further at a loss. Just speculating.

I doubt i will agree but ill give it a shot. For the record, the only soundgarden album i like in full is superunknown, the rest have a lot of songs i don't listen to

On a positive note, since they don't have the high overheads of the major label backing, the band sees much more of the profits.

Plus, from what I've heard, the main money isn't from album/single sales, but it's from touring. Even if PJ stop making music for 10 years, I think they'd still have the ability to fill most large venues.

Fair enough; all I'm saying is that I don't know whether this new cartoony pop dumbed-down sound is actually meaning profit for them, any more than pre-S/T stuff was. We'll never know that, obviously, but they were probably perfectly fine financially on what they were doing back then.
