The Promise is fucking stellar. The amount of quality stuff that came out of those Edge of Town sessions is pretty staggering.

There are rumors Bruce gained 40 lbs and grew a huge beard and lived in BFE Nebraska for a few months before recording this.

oh, man - that so true. Omaha people came in two varieties from my recollection: big and tall types that i'm pretty sure could eat an entire cow in one sitting, ad big and round types, who likely did eat an entire cow in one sitting.

Definitely the best Springsteen album, but there's worthwhile material on every single album (even Human Touch).
