But seriously, I'm not worried about this at all. I trust Edwards to overcome all.

Well it's a awesome concept and a good director. Can't go wrong with that start.

Honesty, at this point, there are few stories in the Star Wars universe that I wouldn't have --- at least a peripheral --- interest in seeing told.

Yes. These guys get it.

With the first film of the reboot trilogy, The Force Awakens, set to be released in late-December 2015, Mikkelsen said: "It’s still the Star Wars universe, but there might be a personal take on that from Gareth [Edwards], as well. And it should be like that, right?"

...

Mikkelsen continued: "We address it as a job.

"We focus on the character and start working. We also are aware that it’s the Star Wars universe. We are aware.

"But that hat, we can’t wear all the time. We have to focus on each individual scene.

"So I think this is one of these things that will dawn on you later when you actually see the film. In the midst of it, it’s a different thing."
Also, I don't think I knew that Lord & Miller were directing the Han Solo movie. That's pretty bizarre.

You're basing that entirely on the involvement of Mads, aren't you.

50% Mads, 50% Gareth

Im okay with the standalone movies and think they have the potential to be better than the new "trilogy" movies. If they are allowed to be other stories that exist within the universe (even solo and fett) that aren't relying entirely on OMG LOOK ITS GREEDO, AND HEY, HE SURE DOES LIKE TO SHOOT FIRST type references, they could be very good.

I hope Mads isn't playing Greedo. He isn't, is he?

i wouldn't mind seeing an obi wan based movie, if only to give ewan mcgregor a chance to work in the role (that he's perfect for) with a good story/director.

but then again, i guess obi wan wasn't doing much between eps 3 and 4 other than hiding in caves, so i don't know what stories there are to tell.

He was hunted. It could work well.

Think I'd rather an Obi Wan movie than a Solo one. You have room and some flexibility with Ben. Ewan McGregor is still with us and could probably give a great performance.
Han is probably too iconic or hard to capture faithfully. No doubt the story will be engaging but how or who do you get to play a young Han?
They've dropped the guy the had lined up to do it apparently.

so much this.

A huge problem with the prequels was knowing that Anakin, Obi Wan, Palpatine, etc all make it and yet they throw them into dangerous situations where we KNOW they make it out alive. If they have some sort of scar or limb damage it basically becomes the game in Hot Tub Time Machine where they keep thinking they are going to see Crispin Glover lose his arm.

Agree.

I dont want to see a young Han at all.

Yeah, I'm not into the idea of a young Han movie at all, but Lord & Miller are an intriguing enough choice to get me interested. And Kasdan writing the script (BY HIMSELF) is also interesting.
