Maybe he subconsciously anticipated his error in closing a round prematurely because the song he wanted to win went up by one vote, which he didn't do at any other time. And that In My Tree is making up for his terrible mistake.

Never forget

Two reasons:

1. Pursuant to article 5, section 8, clause 6, all matches ending in a tie are to be kept open for one more round, on account of the lameness of time breakers. The one exception is when holding the match open potentially delays the rest of the tournament (quarter finals and beyond) where every match is included in the particular voting cycle. In those cases the matches will be kept open for a small amount of pre-determined time to determine a winner so that the tournament may advance.

also, just to be clear, the match was extended by an hour. The winning vote arrived in that hour, and the round ended at the end of the allotted hour, not with the addition of the vote.
