Let the free agency madness begin.

I don't blame Lebron at all for wanting a max deal. He's not the one that disappeared/struggled in the Finals and he deserves the money, being the best player in the league and all.Electromatic wrote:Peeps wrote:i stand corrected, apparently bron wants a max deal while wade and bosh take lesser deals to get the heat about 12 mil in cap relief. i think if bron was serious about adding quality players hed sign for around 10 a year at the most considering his endorsements will still bring him in 60 mill +
He's never had a max deal though (I think) so I can understand that he wants to be the highest paid player on his team for once (ahead of endorsements)
Of those 3, Lebron is the only one really worthy of an above 20 million deal at this point.
That said, until they sign on the line which is dotted, none of us really knows anything. It's all speculation.
The problem is you have to have everything fit under the cap THIS year first.4/5 wrote:Well, with the salary cap rapidly increasing it might not be so bad.pnjguy wrote:I just don't see how this Heat will be any better with a Wade still around. He'll turn himself into an anchor if he's making more than $10 million a year.
check out the avery bradley contract. Average players are getting paaaaaaid this summer. Too much capspace around the league.Monkey_Driven wrote:Love the Livingston signing for the Warriors. Makes Thompson a bit more expendable if they pull the trigger on the Love deal. Not thrilled about using the whole MLE on him, but I have a feeling a lot of players are going to get more money than they deserve when teams strike out on the big free agents.
The Bradley and Gortat deals were both surprises to me. Could be smart signings before they get even crazier offers from teams with cap space later this month.pnjguy wrote:check out the avery bradley contract. Yep.pnjguy wrote:The fact that so many teams have cap space is going to hurt the Heat. Gortat got signed yesterday. Raptors are going to offer Lowry $14 mill a year. Deng has many suitors and likely to get more than $10 mill a year. If they stay over the cap and use their Mid Level Exception, they couldn't even afford Jody Meeks!
I'm thinking the Heat will strike out on the top two tiers of free agents but will still add good pieces.4/5 wrote:Yep.pnjguy wrote:The fact that so many teams have cap space is going to hurt the Heat. I hope you're right. Well, not that they strike out on the top players, though I think that's almost a given. But hopefully they will be able to add some good pieces. Again, the problem with all that cap space is that it raises the prices for everybody, and then there's the issue of whether Wade and Bosh will be willing to take as big a discount for role players if that's all Miami can get.Monkey_Driven wrote:I'm thinking the Heat will strike out on the top two tiers of free agents but will still add good pieces.4/5 wrote:Yep.pnjguy wrote:The fact that so many teams have cap space is going to hurt the Heat. That is a potential dilemma. Any word on Bosh maybe looking somewhere else? I know he wants to stay in Miami but he could probably make close to the max somewhere else on a good/very good team (ex. Rockets).4/5 wrote:I hope you're right. Well, not that they strike out on the top players, though I think that's almost a given. But hopefully they will be able to add some good pieces. Nah, that report has been debunked. I read last night he's looking at 5 year/$90m. He'd start at about $15m this season with max raises every year after that.bada wrote:Chris Bosh is really signing for 12?
Yeah, the Rockets would make sense, but I haven't read anything about him doing anything but working on coming back here next year.Monkey_Driven wrote: That is a potential dilemma. Do you think the "Big 3" are waiting to see who Riley can sign or do you think they're coming back regardless?4/5 wrote:Yeah, the Rockets would make sense, but I haven't read anything about him doing anything but working on coming back here next year.Monkey_Driven wrote: That is a potential dilemma. I think they're back. Up to this point I still don't think there's been a moment when it became likely that any of them wouldn't be back.Monkey_Driven wrote:Do you think the "Big 3" are waiting to see who Riley can sign or do you think they're coming back regardless?4/5 wrote:Yeah, the Rockets would make sense, but I haven't read anything about him doing anything but working on coming back here next year.Monkey_Driven wrote: That is a potential dilemma. I was happy with the Bradley signing. He actually plays "hard, tap the floor kinda" defense - it's a lost art in the NBA and players should be compensated for valuable skill set/effort.bada wrote:Hopefully that Avery Bradley number is including unlikely incentives. 8 million a year? Yikes. Chris Bosh is really signing for 12?
