I don't think "well it's actually referring to this other story" is a particularly strong defense of a movie.

Inside Llewyn Davis.

Issacs and Mulligan were outstanding, a good movie but maybe not a great one.

I guess I would say, it's a better movie than maybe 80-90% of the movies I've watched over the past decade, but it's not the best Coen film from that period (True Grit). Can't quite put my finger on it but there was something about it that was just a little muted.

True Grit is great. Llewyn Davis is better.

But I probably agree with you upon first viewing, if I'm honest. I remember feeling like there was something a little muted (to use your word) about it. That vanished the second time I saw it. And the thing only gets better the more I see it.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It Comes At Night.

Neither the horror movie I thought it would be nor the character study it thought it was. Entertaining but forgettable.

What is this in response to? I don't even see anyone saying that. I really wish you would learn how to read

Just because your Hall of Fame thing is going poorly again doesn't make it okay to take it out on me, mister.

We watched this last night too. It wasn't a bad time but it was underwhelming. Definitely should have been funnier with that cast.

Miami Vice.

What a classic. Colin Farrell at its finest. Michael Mann, what a director. What he does here is just pure poetry.

47 Meters Down Uncaged.

Is the third movie i saw from Johannes Roberts and damn this guy is super interesting. This sequel to the already classic 47 Meters Down might be inferior but is still impressive. Really cool production designs and super fun.
