Bingo. All the trumpers are posting this exact thing all over social media and in comments sections of the story
WELL?!?!?!?!!!!
But them mailing money to dead people* only proves the ineptitude of the administration.
* One of our area hospitals closed last year due to it being a money laundering situation for an Irish gangster. It closed when the IRS said “pay us the millions you owe us or close.” It got $250,000 in coronavirus relief. And it’s been closed over a year.

it's a known issue that government agency databases don't 'talk to one another' - and the SSN death index is unreliable too. oddly enough, sometimes there are repeat SSNs
they knew going into this stimulus package it 'would not be perfect' and they erred on the side of speed
this is imaginary money made up by the Fed and if it was $1.4 B / $290 B then that is a less than half a percent error rate which for a program like this is doing pretty OK
plus if the person is dead then the check probably won't be cashed anyway
and if it's a direct deposit the treasury can work with the Bank to reverse it later if confirmed the person is dead
Fuck the Internet for always making everything into crybaby shit. impossible to have a grown-up conversation about anything anymore. everything is always Heroes vs. Villains

$1.4 billion here. $1.4 billion there. Pretty soon, we're talking about real money here.

“What’s at stake in this election as you compare and contrast, and what are your top priority items for a second term?,” asked Hannity.
Trump replies. Things get weird quickly.
“Well one of the things that will be really great, you know, the word ‘experience’ is still good,” Trump said. “I always say talent is more important than experience. I’ve always said that. But the word experience is a very important word. It’s a very important meaning.”
“I never did this before, I never slept over in Washington,” Trump added.
“I was in Washington I think 17 times, all of a sudden I’m the president of the United States, you know the story, I’m riding down Pennsylvania Avenue with our First Lady and I say, ‘This is great.’ But I didn’t know very many people in Washington, it wasn’t my thing. I was from Manhattan, from New York. Now I know everybody. And I have great people in the administration.”

He's not detached from reality though, he's just straight up lying about what's going on and hoping his base keeps his dick in their mouths.

I’m not at all trying to shit on Josh or get a rise out of him, genuinely curious if he’s still supporting this guy, or maybe starting to look at things a bit differently?

I haven't been paying attention. Is Josh the only vocal Trump supporter on the board?

My FIL is a Trump supporter. He doesn't like his character. He's a devout Christian. But he says he supports him because of his business savvy and what he does for jobs and everything like that. How do I argue against this point, specifically, next time he brings it up?

I’m less interested in if people like Josh still support him, and more interested on if they still think he’s on a path to reelection. Whether you believe polling in general or not, in 2018 we all watched the ACA repeal destroy Republicans’ chances of electoral success....and now they’re playing the same card again during a pandemic.

I mean, it can't go off any worse then trying to debate him.

I just want to know the most basic argument against him being good for the economy. My wife seems to think this too.

Shouldn’t you start by turning it around and asking them what metric they’re using to define “great for the economy?“ GDP? Deficit? Trade balance?
Once you know that, it just becomes a Google search.

Try this: a strong economy requires a healthy functioning workforce; and that workforce requires science-based safeguards to make sure that they remain healthy and functioning. And this president has good at those safeguards and basically every opportunity, and he completely owns this tanked economy.

What safeguards, specifically?
