Managed to catch them on the Discovery Park tour at a small pub venue a crowd of about 500. Was outstanding.

I really, really love this song off the first record however was disappointed to find out very little of their other stuff sounds anything like it:



Actually, I dug the two new songs they released in 2017, this being one of them:

I saw Brad in Athens, GA back in 1998 and I was mesmerized by the opening band: Headswim.

I saw Shawn play solo quite a few times over the last 10 years - he did a number of tours in the UK in the years before his death, which were generally poorly promoted and therefore poorly attended. He always stuck around for a chat afterwards and was really nice, but he was a surprisingly shy bloke. I get the impression that he didn't really know how to play the music industry game and his career suffered as a result.

He deserved a lot more attention. Some of his albums are absolutely incredible: Interiors, Shame, The Family, The Full Sentence, The Diamond Hand... just brilliant. And Wrapped In My Memory is an absolute beauty. A big loss.

Surprising nobody, Gigaton was my most played album from 2020 according to Spotify, with Dance Of The Clairvoyants being the most played song.

And yes Pearl Jam is the most played band.

Same on Spotify though Grateful Dead was my #1 artist (Pearl Jam #2, Dylan #3, Stones #4, Neil Young #5). I listened to Dance of the Clairvoyants 59 times apparently.

I apparently got in 88 listens. Which somehow seems like too many and not enough.

Gave this a listen for the first time in a while...it still holds up. I did find myself trailing off through the back quarter of the record, even though individually I like all those songs. But Dance of the Clairvoyants, especially that last few minutes, still is a powerhouse, inspired moment for this band. I like the record quite a bit, and also totally get why Stone and others in the band may want to chase that song as their inspiration moving forward.
