I saw Bogdanovich introduce this film at a festival some years ago. He talked about how it was originally called Squirrels to Nuts and was meant to be like a 50s screwball comedy. It played really well but I'd be curious to rewatch it because sometimes hearing an audience laugh uproariously at every joke colors your perception a little
Doesn't surprise me at all that it was originally called Squirrels to Nuts. I actually said to my wife that that should have been the title.
It's definitely funny. There is some bonkers shit in it though that baffles me. And yet I wish it had been more over the top. I wanted more screwball to it. I didn't hate the movie by any means but it's fucking weird. It should work better than it does. It really should have been as perfect as Noises Off, I think. The ingredients are all there.
Part of the problem, might be too much adherence to it's 50's style. That stuff felt too forced too often. It wasn't effortless, the way that other nostalgia bate pieces (something like 'Everyone Says I Love You' for example) are.
And like HOW and WHY are all these people in it?? And it got like zero play here. It's six years old and I'd never heard of it until I saw it on the HBO Max menu.

He also said that everybody worked for scale. His name was probably a big draw for talent

The Ice Storm.
What a casting! Joan Allen and Sigourney Weaver are incredible. Some pretty intense moments and some beautiful ones. A very abrupt end for an overall great movie.

Yeah this movie is wonderful. I remember putting it on again immediately after it ended (I was watching at home, didn't see it in theatres) because I was so captivated and because I needed more!

One of my all time favorites. Maybe Ang Lee’s best?
Im not a huge Lee fan. I love Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain and Sense and Sensibility, but i havent seen Ride With The Devil Or Life of Pi for example.
Hulk is a beautiful mess.

yeah, it felt like one of those movies its hard to see these days. The cast is just superb, and the photography and overall feeling is great.

Its super intimate and at the same time, aggressive. Its tells a lot about those two character.

I held off on watching Prospect for a long time and loved it when I did. Excellent world building for a low budget sci-fi. Highly recommend this one.

I actually just watched this the other day and loved it. I agree about the excellent world building.
Great performances, too. Pedro Pascal is wonderful.
