Never Destination rules, Quick Escape does not

Yeah, QE is not as great as people think it is.

Strat wrote:Never destination rules. It’s the band having a blast and playing it loose which is a breath of fresh air after the last two albums. It’s also not punk. It’s quite rock n roll and very who like.
Love it.
Totally agree with your categorizing- it's blasphemy to call that happy punk.

This is such a snob take. I think it's great, every time I hear it, and know it will slay me live.

I don't think Never Destination sounds "happy", especially compared to PRAMG songs of its type; I think it sounds groovy and upbeat in a similar way to Satan's Bed; but it's not interesting on bass, and it seems like that makes it less interesting to DeeDee, and that's OK (a lot of my least favourite PJ songs are boring drum songs)

Nah, I just don't like the song.
Get Right has a good bassline and is extremely dull, too.

I don't want to live in a world in which Never Destination rules and In Hiding and/or Quick Escape don't.

Never Destination sounds like it was written for a Ford commercial
the first 4 songs of this album are canon
Quick Escape is the apex of a glorious mountain

I love both Quick Escape and Never Destination
Gigaton is awesome. So much better than the 3 albums before it.

Never Destination is the weakest song on Gigaton by some margin. It's middle-aged middle-of-the-road AOR by numbers. It's the kind of track that any aging rockers could churn out in 20 seconds in the studio. My feeling is that Ed wanted to write a song in the vein of Tom Petty as a tribute, and came up a bit short but they needed another upbeat song for the album so it sneaked on. That said, it has grown on me since the album came out. I could still happily lose that and Comes Then Goes from Gigaton.
