So, for those of us that have listened to all available leaks, how do you approach the album when we finally get it? Listen to it from beginning to end or quickly listen to the tracks we have yet to hear?

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised that anyone who spends enough time here to even be part of this discussion would skip around the first time they get their hands on a new album. Especially since most of us have listened to the leaked songs lots of times anyway, what's one more in the name of chronological integrity?

That U2 song wouldn't have been nearly the commercial success it was with a title like that.

"BB Mastering" - compelling. A quick search shows it to be [url="http://www.blackbeltmastering.com/Home.html"]Black Belt Mastering[/url] based in Seattle. Sadly, I haven't heard of any of those bands on their site.

Maybe it's a simple test for mastering companies, but it's compelling because of how shitty Bob Ludwig/Gateway Mastering has been of late.

But that's a bold statement this early on. I wouldn't call any of these typical without full context. Lots of backspacer was typical, it just wasn't done right.

The fun of hearing the songs I've been listening to on the album is context and the cleaner, better sounding copy (so stuff will be sharper, new details may emerge, etc). That's all very cool, but it's not nearly the draw new music is. If I don't listen to the new songs first I will find myself being anxious for the other ones to finish so I can get to what I haven't heard. Getting the 'must hear the new songs' feeling out of my system will help me concentrate on the first 'album as an album' listen.

I'd think chronological integrity is less important to those who have been indulging on the leaks.

I mean, I can't resist the songs if they're out there early. At that point, order be damned. But given the chance and choice to either listen straight through or skip ahead, I'll always opt for the full experience.
