Trump is narcissistic enough that he could both drop out and stay in and it would make complete sense to everyone.

I could see him dropping out because he'll still be the president to his cult no matter what he does. If he drops out, all he has to do is start TrumpTV and shit on Biden every night while he still pretends he's president. There are enough millions of people in the country who would give that credibility it might seem like a good option if faced with a Mondale like trouncing in November.
