Vedder: Not to air my band's laundry, but our music seems to be getting more cerebral, and I need it to be more visceral or something. And there's a place where those two meet.
Vedder: And most bands, the longer they play together, they will become more comfortable. You go from punk-rock songs to contemporary music. It's a trap

The truth: saw the quote, and really wanted to use the gif. It was a toss up where to put it, but I think the lightning bolt thread has been through enough today. That cerebral thing is interesting though.

Ed needs to do some serious solo albums. It's not going to happen but it would be interesting. I'm genuinely curious about what a solo rock record by Ed would sound like. I don't think it's anywhere near a real possibility considering how much "Ed solo" ballads he writes for PJ records but i think doing something in a 100% artistic autonomy would all but hurt him and consequentially Pearl Jam. Just taking BS in consideration JB, SOS and UK could have been much more interesting or at the very least less cheesy if Ed relayed only on his own strengths and not BOB's and the band's as far as SOS is concerned.

There seems to be plenty of Ed quotes in which he said he'd never do something he's done since.

Well if you like. But just there you have:
Vedder: And most bands, the longer they play together, they will become more comfortable. You go from punk-rock songs to contemporary music. It's a trap

It's accomplishment for them to be dated and contemporary at the same time, isn't it?

I... I don't know what you mean by that.
