Can anyone recommend a podcast about Russian history over the last 2 centuries? Ditto with China?
I think I may have to get an audiobook.

I quickly became frustrated when I tried to find good history podcasts. I quit almost immediately. Audiobooks are far superior.

I assume you tried hardcore history?
What about history on fire with Daniele Bolleli? I listened to his Crazy Horse series and it was excellent.

History hit is quite good. Always too short though. And certain topics viewed through a very very british point of view. Especially if they’re involved in any way. But worth looking up.

First episode of the new bad video games podcast "How did this get played?" with Nick Wiger and Heather Anne Campbell is up. Looking forward to checking it out.

Is it? I saw an ad for it this morning from stitcher and it sounded interesting. I hope that they don't just do easy pulls like E.T. and play something like Metal Gear Solid (the whole series) or even Death Stranding so it can devolve into "what the actual fuck is going on now" conversations.

I found this podcast called
History Unplugged with an episode about
Understanding Putin Through the History of Russian Invasions which in turn led me to the
History of Russian Rulers podcast. This was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I'm starting at Napoleon's invasion, a 200 year glance seems sufficient at the moment.
- Spoiler: show

Additionally, I've listened to a couple of
BBC 4 In Our Time: History pods (One on Lenin and the other on the building of St Petersburg). This round table style is pretty satisfying and I've got a few others queued (Tsar Alexander II and some Chinese history pods about The Great Wall, Sun Tsu).

It's easy. It's an easy sell and it's a pretty easy gig.

I've pimped In Our Time in this thread before and was coming to this thread to suggest it for the Russia conversation. Their subjects are usually never as broad as one whole country, but I believe there was an episode a few years back on the end of serfdom in Russia that seems like it would be incredibly important.

Why? Just showing up to do the show would seem to indicate otherwise.

Just a lot of eyerolly comments and attitudes. “I stepped out in my pajamas and everyone’s jaws hit the floor and I was just like, ‘Fuck all you people in tuxedos!’”
So edgy and cool man
