Petraeus was reportedly in the running to replace Flynn as National Security Advisor. Another guy already turned it down yesterday. Trump name checked some other guy this morning, so Petraeus probably wasn't in first place anyways. Petraeus may be publicly dropping out because he's heard that he's not getting the job so he's protecting his ego.
