What is so interesting to me is that they've become so relevant to us hardcore fans again at the same time as they've lost a lot of relevance mainstream, having released a relatively acclaimed album to very low sales. It's kind of like they're an underdog again. That, coupled with the magical "finger on the pulse" element of the lyrics and mood of the album, really brings magic back in a way that compliments the musical re-awakening.

I should probably bump my rating on this to 5 stars.

I've had it at an easy 4 from first listen. Can't shake the sense that that's too low.

Gave this a listen earlier in the week. I'm amazed at how much I look forward to each song (even parts of Retrograde). First time since Riot Act I can say that.

Yeah, listening to any given song inevitably makes me excited to hear the next one and the next one. If I put on Retrograde, I'll also listen to River Cross. If I put on TTLW, I'll listen to the next four tracks, too. And if I'm in the mood for WES, I'm probably going to end up hearing the whole record.

Yeah, I hear you. It feels extreme to rank it a 5, but then again, I really love this record from front to back.

I listened on headphones for the first time in a while, start to finish, and it was pretty spectacular, and I ended up even more impressed by all of the energizing choices and details of the production. I think a lot of great material on the last couple of records really suffered from a lack of imagination and risk-taking in the studio, but even the slower songs on Gigaton have a sense of propulsion and life.

This is a solid five star album...out of 100
