Way more interesting than the finished record.
Eh. I love those demos, but other than better (younger) vocals, it's marginal.

It's a way more sparse intimate closer experience. Guess its about personal taste. I always preferred demos/rough takes.

Me too, man.
Like I said somewhere upthread, I think it's one of his most engaging recorded vocal performances in years. It's fantastic.
Agreed.
I remember some people on the board thought Hold On's original vocals were some of Ed's best. They weren't. That is a very bad singing job by the very few objective criteria that exist in that regard. Having said that i don't see any issue in liking something like that. I also find it completely legitimate for a singer to not release that kind of a vocal take.
I noticed that what part of this board perceives as sincere/engaging/passionate vocal performance by Ed i find phony/exaggerated and with a clear sense of Ed trying to impersonate his early self completely ignoring the words his singing. Think late 90's.

I'm no producer of course, but here's what I would do to make CC sound finished to me.
1) Shorten the verses, make them about half as long;
2) There's a certain part right after verse one when the guitars play a funky riff -- I would make it the main riff for the verses from start to finish;
3) The organ improvisation at the very end of the song -- I would move it to the middle part and make the whole break between the verses twice as long with a full fledged "dialog" between the guitars and the organ;
4) End the second verse the same way the song starts - with lonely, lazy chords against a silent background.
Nobody has to agree with this, I just felt like sharing these thoughts.

I'd be happy with a Lost Dogs II - but I prefer stuff to be on proper albums - I tend to listen to PJ as albums rather than songs so I added Sad etc to Binaural but it doesn't feel right as its not the album I listened to originally. I'll end up adding OTE and CC to ST but it won't be the same. Lost Dogs is ok in terms of tracklisting but it is a difficult job with material spanning a decade or so.

I agree with this; I'm more of an album guy than a Lost Dogs / b-sides / rarities guy, on the whole. At what point does a band stop being 'good', if they continuously leave their best songs off their albums? I mean, if they choose their least interesting work to represent them, even if that work is put on novelty albums, are you really listening to PJ, or are you something else?

I'd rather get a Lost Dogs with the older cast offs than have them put on a fresh album. More likely to be re recorded if they're used as album cuts. Just master the original recordings please and put them on a compilation.

Yeah, I totally get that. It's just the way my brain is rewired; if I'm not at least a little bit interested in their current stuff, meh.

I have Let it ride, somehow when I put it in my ipod I didn't erase it from my computer. I'm a retard when it comes to this technology stuff...I'd really appricate it. Thank You

What kind of 'adult' gifts do you want from a rock band?

Let it Ride is far superior to CC only because it actually feels like a finished song. CC needs a shit ton of work, it's really fucking boring.

I really like Let it Ride, but the similarity of the guitar riff to that of Otherside annoys me a bit.
*Edit: I meant Fatal, not Otherside.

I think a dildo is a fine gift for anyone, regardless of age.
