I expect it’s largely because the band was already familiar with it, having played it on the Temple of the Dog tour.

The debut of Got Some on Conan back in 2009. The first indication to me that EV was really struggling with his voice. He looks in pain singing this.

The band sound great and I was disappointed that the album version didn't sound as heavy as it did here.

I loved this Got Some performance when it aired. I think its's pretty clear hes's got a cold or something here.

Isn't it the only live version that is not down-tuned? I enjoy this performance just for this reason, during shows most of the Backspacer songs (and some from Lightning Bolt) suffered from this change to fit with Eddie's voice struggles.

must have come straight from the studio because he sounds like he has a cold on all of backspacer.

I'm so glad you did. For me it felt like the beginning of the end. Pearl Jam on TV had been like Jordan in Championships and then this. I remember thinking, "the cigarettes finally caught up with him."
