She basically gripes about everyone to everyone else, not following thru on commitments she’s made with us, is telling everyone in her center other centers are being shut down, just all kinds of lies and such. She’s even telling her fellow staff that I’m refusing to pay out bonuses because I’m pocketing the money myself (which does nothing but show her sheer ignorance on the subject of how we pay bonuses out). So I’m gonna have to have a nice come-to-Jesus meeting with her next. All the other staff hate working with her because of her constant negativity and lies. Gonna be a fun conversation.
So, this discussion happened Thursday morning. As expected, she denied everything, but I did reset expectations with her and while she agreed to them, she won’t meet them. She won’t be with us very much longer.

After that I had to start dealing with budget driven position eliminations. Went to the first center and had the conversation with one of them there I had to let go. After that had to go to another center and have that conversation with another employee.

Friday, I resumed and went back to those centers and another and had to let three more go. It’s a totally different thing to terminate someone because they suck than if you just have to make the budget work. All of these were based on last-in-first-out basis and I did give them two weeks notice and have offered that they stay on with us in a prn capacity. Two of them have already agreed to stay so I’m very glad about that. But they still weren’t pleasant conversations and I was just emotionally and mentally drained Friday night. Hopefully the other three will stay on as prn. I don’t want to outright lose any of them. And now with all this weather it’s just been a really shitty week.
Do you know if the budget allows for you to bring any of them back or to FT if someone else leaves or is fired?
It does. If our average pt volumes increase or yes, if someone else leaves/gets fired I can bring them back to FT if they stay on as PRN. I can also rehire if they choose not to stay but then they would just be as a new hire again.
That's good.

The last few weeks has been nothing but drama at work. Employees and managers both.

I just read all of my old posts in this thread to psych myself up to apply for a new job I'm interested in. I applied for this same job when it was open three years ago, but pulled myself out immediately after the interview. I don't regret that. But maybe now is the time and I think I have a shot at it.

But more importantly, I read all my old posts in this thread, right? Holy shit, guys, I am both very funny and very wise. You should be honored to be posting with me. This is top-level shit

Will you be using your current coworkers as references?

References is the hardest thing for me. I don't really maintain conversations with people I used to work with, so it seems awkward to just message someone I haven't talked to in two years to ask them to be a reference. I could ask people in my current office but my supervisor couldn't really say anything about me since I barely know the guy. And I don't know if I want my colleagues to know I'm applying elsewhere. I hate references. I should've cultivated mentor-mentee relationships, oops

Some RMers hate when you try to move up in the world.

Applying is definitely the hardest part. All those clicks and words.

Last day at my company of 10 years today. My entire department is being transferred over to a new company. Starting there on Monday. Not happy about it but at least I didn't get laid off.

They're both WFH, so no moving necessary. Pay is a little better. Benefits probably are too but I don't really pay attention to them. Would gladly sacrifice those bumps to stay in my current role at my current company, though. :(

Is your role changing, as well?

Yeah, it's kinda hard to explain but, currently, I work a ton of tasks with autonomy. At the new place, it's only going to be one of those current tasks, and with a lot less autonomy. (And, unfortunately, it's my least favorite of all the tasks I work.) Hopefully I can move up quickly and do something else.
