The one thing disney has going for them is that moviegoers will be far more sympathetic to an off screen death than they otherwise would be.

Thats all great. Man im excited as i feel things are going to start trickling out now. Clearly he has permission to start talking about it now.
I like that Luke is a huge focal point of the story. Also im curious as to how many new characters they were planning on introducing? Clearly rey and finn were huge aspects of the story but as its been said, this movie was originally going to start focusing more time on other characters? I have no idea why or what that would look like and it seems a little strange they were waiting to see how people took to the new characters to make a decision to focus more energy on them when they were so integral to the first movie.

That was awesome! I want to watch that whole thing now.
They should keep everything they have for 8 that's vital to the story. Leave it all alone and tell the story they originally intended to tell. If there's a way to write Leia out of the story (off screen death, etc) that makes sense and doesn't compromise the story moving forward for 9, so be it. Do that.
However, if Leia is vital for the story moving forward (Ep 9 and potentially beyond) they should recast the part and proceed as planned.

Agreed.

The only thing we can say with any certainty was that there was gonna be a scene with Leia and Kylo finally meeting again. And it wasn't shot for 8. That would have been a powerful scene no matter what shape it took. My guess was that she gets attacked somehow and that flips him totally back and he saves her. It's his mom.
We may never know but it'll be interesting to see the work around. No matter what they do now will be framed / perceived as a result of Carries death. Even if it's not truly the case.

1. How can you say that for certain? Do you have a link or something that isn't just speculation?
2. How do you know that such a scene wasn't shot for 8?
I've seen/heard/read a lot of speculation about this but I never saw confirmation. Would be interesting to see that if you have it. If not, no biggie. Just curious.

It was on one of them in the know podcasts. Wanna say the making Star was one or this is podcasting.
Those guys had 95% accuracy on leaks from force awakens. Seems they have an inside man or are unofficially leaked details about plot and story etc. They even knew about the training droid Finn picks up in FA
