There are millions of Americans that go to their offices or other places of work every day with a weapon, and we see very little in the way of adverse consequences. Are schools a sacred place that are violated by the presence of firearms? Are they filled with unruly students who regularly assault their instructors?

heres the thing the pro-gun / concealed and carry crowd don't understand.
Before concealed carry, if you thought someone had a gun, you assumed that person was about to rob a bank, gas station, bar, kill someone, whatever. Point is, if you thought someone had a gun, you knew they were most likely up to no good and you called the police. But with concealed carry, you have no idea, and on top of that, if you do call the police and they come check the person out, If that person does indeed have a concealed carry permit 9 times out of 10 they rip into the police for harassing them.

I would love to see a statistic on just how many crimes have actually been stopped from good guys with guns. I remember one in Milwaukee making news a few years ago as the good guy and bad guy exchanged gun fire at a grocery store. Thankfully no one was shot, but it clearly showed the problems with concealed carry and vigilante good guys with a gun.

Edit: I'd need to see some stats on that stuff.

A .22 is probably a rough way to go though. Not that it's impossible, but they aren't exactly made for killing people. He must have been determined.

What are the reasons for increases in teen and early teen suicides? There have always been outcasts, but something is definitely different. I think there is a larger, all encompassing problem here, and I think the internet is probably a big reason.

But the net can also be a help, lets loners find friends / like minded people that they might not have around them in their small towns. I mean don't go coming onto RM if youre suicidal, fuck knows we don't have a heart around here and social media can be brutal. But in general the net can be a positive place as well.

Some Native American reservations have had staggering problems with suicide and no one knows how to stop it. Its one of those mysteries that experts have no cure all.

Depressive nihilism seems fucking huge with American youth right now. I don't remember anything this extreme when I was in high school.

Yeah.

I feel like its a scale problem. I can imagine the insignificance one can feel growing in a world where you are constantly connected to billions.

Its one thing to feel like you are falling behind or out of step in a small town, or even a city, but when you perceive it's the whole world you're not in step with? Where is there to go?
