I listened to Sirens again today. I can't imagine hating it. What a weird thing.

I pretty much feel the same way about Gigaton now that I did a year ago. For sure their best since Binaural. I still can't decide if I like that album more...I think I do. It has aged so gracefully. I was big S/T fan for years but it's fallen away for me. Not sure why.

I understand comparisons with Black; Sirens is like Black coated with frosting and sprinkles
but I hear a more melodramatic Inside Job personally

I love the song but feel the same way. It's the rare PJ song that can make me cry, move me deeply, and still never achieve 5-star status.

As far as Lightning Bolt songs go i actually quite like Sirens, but i am definitely not getting the comparisons to Black.
If anything i buy into the comments that Sirens is Pearl Jam's attempt at a Bon Jovi style ballad. I kind of enjoy it for what it is, but months ago i heard it right after listening to most of Gigaton and it was pretty cringy.

I mean i don't agree, but even if i did i would at least still think that was a step in the right direction after LB.

I think with B O'B on those last couple albums before Gig, they were trying to be stuff, more than just doing what they do. The production on No Code is so fantastic, I don't know what happened to B O'B to make him more of a packager than actual contributor.

A cheap Logitech headset that's better than my previous cheap headset. It's for my PC, so gotta go with a headset for games, as well as music.

We're finally finished with our grand redecorating process. One new component is a music listening area. I christened it yesterday with a beer and Gigaton on vinyl. It was the first time
that I got to just sit and listen to the whole thing, start to finish, without another person in the apartment, and with the liner notes in my hands the whole time. That's how I used to automatically listen to every new record.
Worth the wait. This record is a monster.
