The main purpose it serves is to create a bit of a break from the ‘relentless pounding’ to make the build up and release of the solo that much more intense. Which is why it’s a good thing it’s a short bridge.

I like how the bridge resolves itself by quickly *descending* into more threatening minor chords at "no sorrow for the unaccountable", instead of taking the more emotionally positive route it could have; the duration of it is the antithesis of WES, which has a whole section of song dedicated to "bridge" material (like RVM or Corduroy), but this song didn't need that, it's a subtler jam that's purposefully over in a flash
"no tolerance for intolerance" is a good line

They could only dream of making a song as good as this.

Is Grace by Idles the new fantastic single everyone is talking about?
Or are there two bands called Idles?
Because I've listened to Grace and I don't get what you got your panties in a knot over for

The Idles seem like doofuses and not in a good way.
To add PJ content, Ed does sound like a haggard Bono in this song.

Ooooh slightly racist but I understand. I hope you’re enjoying it! The entire series is mind bendingly phenomenal. I think they’re the best sci-fi books in my opinion, even more so than Left Hand of Darkness or Dune.

I initially read that as “sound like a Hagrid Bono” and now all I can hear in my head is “Who’s gonna ride your wild horses, Harry?”
